Dermal fillers are a family of versatile injectable treatments consisting of a soft, hyaluronic acid gel-like substance that is injected into the skin. As we age, the level of supportive structures like collagen and elastin in our skin begins to wane, and this depletion of volume is often what causes us to appear older or drawn. Dermal fillers can be used to replace this volume, offering support to your face. Dermal fillers can also be used to contour and shape facial features to achieve your aesthetic goals. When you book a consultation, our skilled team will be happy to assess your desires and needs and guide you towards the most suitable course of treatment.

What can dermal fillers treat?
Dermal fillers help to address the loss of bone, fat, muscle lengthening and skin changes caused by the aging process. Some common benefits include a softening of lines and wrinkles, improvement in the balance of your facial features, an increase in volume/fullness to the treated area, as well as an improvement in skin hydration.
How long do dermal filler results last?
The results of a dermal filler treatment can last from nine months to two years, depending on the area of treatment, the type of dermal filler used, and the patient’s unique physiology. Follow-up treatments can be performed at regular intervals to maintain your results.

Your Questions Answered
At Clinic 805, dermal fillers are administered by qualified medical professionals with extensive injectable training. Your initial appointment will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour, and we’ll walk you through the treatment process so you know exactly what to expect at each step. Dermal filler injections require no anesthetic with the exception of the lips; to which a numbing cream will be applied prior to treatment. All of our facial fillers include lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort during the procedure.
You can expect to have some temporary swelling, tenderness and redness at the site of injection. Your provider will review post-care instructions with you at your appointment. Results can usually be seen within a few days of treatment.
Be sure to let your provider if you have a history of low blood pressure, fainting, or a phobia of needles. You should plan to not lie flat, exercise, or rub the injected area for four hours post-treatment. We will schedule a follow up appointment with you in four weeks’ time to assess your dermal filler results.
Although we only offer treatments with excellent safety profiles, dermal filler treatments are medical procedures that carry a certain amount of risk, and it’s important to us that patients are fully educated on their treatment of interest so they can make an informed choice.
The most common side effects following dermal filler treatments include injection-site redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, discolouration, infection, and itching. A rare but serious risk of dermal filler treatments is vascular occlusion, which is caused by a small amount of filler obstructing the flow of blood in a blood vessel. The treatment for vascular occlusion is a medication called hyaluronidase, which when injected into the affected area dissolves the filler and normal blood flow returns.
Complications from dermal fillers are rare but may be serious and/or permanent. Complications that have been reported for facial injections include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, granulomas, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring.
You are not a candidate for dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have dental work or an immunization scheduled within two weeks before or after your procedure, or if you have any type of active infection or virus. If you have any type of neuromuscular disorder or an autoimmune disease, this should be discussed with your treatment provider to determine whether it affects your candidacy.
If you develop a rash or irritation in the area you are seeking to treat, we will need to postpone your dermal filler appointment until your skin has cleared up. If you have a history of cold sores, please let your treatment provider know.
